Psychotherapy in Christchurch
Helping you better understand yourself so you can feel more settled, connected, and move through life with greater ease
It often isn't easy to explain what's wrong. You may have noticed yourself feeling anxious, overwhelmed, struggling in your relationships, carrying the effects of past experiences and trauma, or simply sensing that life doesn't feel the way it once did. You don't need to have everything figured out before beginning therapy.
Beginning therapy is a brave step, and I think it's natural to feel uncertain about where to start. As a Registered Psychotherapist in Christchurch, my priority isn't to analyse or fix you; it's to get to know you. I'm interested in your story, your relationships, how your experiences have shaped you, and what matters most in your life. Together, we'll take the time to understand your experiences, working at a pace that feels right for you, knowing that greater self-understanding becomes the foundation for healing and change. As your understanding grows, we can explore what you would like to be different, with you deciding what changes feel meaningful and how you would like to move toward them.

How Can Psychotherapy Help?
I believe life doesn't always come with clear answers. At times, we can find ourselves feeling stuck, confused, repeating familiar patterns, or responding to life in ways we don't fully understand. I have been here before myself. Psychotherapy offers the time and space to slow down, reflect, and make sense of these experiences. As our understanding grows, we often begin to experience ourselves, our relationships, and life differently.
Rather than offering quick solutions or telling you what to do, psychotherapy helps you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and the experiences that have shaped your life. Through an attuned therapeutic relationship, new ways of understanding, relating, and responding can gradually emerge.
- 01 Develop greater self-awareness
- 02 Build healthier and more fulfilling relationships
- 03 Increased emotional resilience
- 04 Feel more connected to yourself and how you want to live your life

"Healing begins with the experience of being truly seen, deeply heard and gently understood."
How I Work
I believe every person arrives with a unique story, so I don't believe therapy should follow a fixed formula. My role is to understand who you are before deciding what might be most helpful. Together, we work in a way that feels collaborative, respectful, and responsive to your individual needs.
Some sessions may involve us talking through what's happening in your life, while others may focus on understanding recurring patterns in your relationships, exploring difficult emotions, becoming more aware of your body's responses, or making sense of experiences that have been hard to put into words.
Above all, I believe meaningful change grows within a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, understood, and accepted. When we feel able to explore ourselves fully without judgement, new understanding, healing, and change can gradually emerge.

Beginning Psychotherapy
I think it is important that you feel comfortable with the person you choose to work with. Our first session is an opportunity to meet, talk about what's bringing you here, and see whether working together feels right for you. If you have any questions or would like to arrange an appointment, I'd be pleased to hear from you.

"Therapy is an opportunity to develop a different relationship with yourself, one built on awareness, curiosity, and compassion."
